How Old

I think if you want to still climb at any age the secret is to just keep going, one of my favorite sayings is "you don't stop doing things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing things".

On the radio a few weeks back, a BBC corespondent was interviewing some South American horse breakers, the oldest was 92!! and still breaking wild horses.

She asked him what his secret was, his simple answer was "for gods sake don't stop"

I will be 51 in a month,& still climb, sort of,but its always been sort of!

A bloke I have work for me from time to time is 57,and is quite a reasonable climber.I reckon he will put his bus pass in his first aid pouch in a few years time!

Remember those of us baby-boomers of the 50`s & 60`s were brought up on mouldy brown bread, were out of the house all day swinging in trees foraging for food and were resilient to all illnesses and therefore superior in strength and fitness so I`ll probably have my wake in a tree hopefully into my late 90`s as my grandma`s 98 and still fit as a flea :D

I look after Gaia and she looks after me ;)

I like that, i cant really comment to the original poster, being just over half you're age:001_tongue: but to Skyhucks post, my grandpa retired from working in a garage at 85 fitter than most half his age, he passed away at 87

I would like to think that I will climb to some degree until retirement.

However, climbing big stuff at commercially viable speed is something that is on my mind already. Reductions? (big stuff). Not my thing any more (never was). I'm knackered without my spikes!

If I get a bit jaded I just watch some vids of Graham McMahon knocking bits of 300' Gums and that 80' Syc suddenly seems like baby pee!
