My colleagues and I started at 7.30 and i've only just got in. We dropped someone off in the office to listen to answerphone messages and let us know if there are any more reports for trees down. We had 45 to clear up throughout north dorset. The truck and chipper have certainly earned their fuel today. Didn't get any pics as camera battery was flat and the camera in my phone decided to go on strike until we finished the day. 8 large trees, 28 medium trees and 9 lil'uns down. One of the bigguns needed to be double cut even though we had a 24 inch bar on our 440.

BBC has a few photos of the effects of weather. Sad to see that someone was killed by falling timber, but also showing an interesting way to prop a tree up - lean it on your house...

BBC News - Severe weather: Your pictures

Although very windy in Belgium (to 100 kph) no calls to clear up fallen trees :sneaky2:

But now people will start thinking about possible damage to houses again, I guess the phone will start ringing this weekend.

Going to quote 6 big poplars tomorrow, big ones in a small garden :001_tt2:
