L200 v Ranger v ?

I have a 55 plate Ford Ranger double cab and its ok, bit bouncy with nowt in the back but plenty of room in the back seats. It does no more than 27.5mpg or down to 22.5mpg when I am delivering firewood with my 8x5 ifor trailer. Have got bridgestones on the front and all terrains on the back and it seems to go anywhere. I am really pleased with it and yes it is a bit basic compared with L200 and Hilux but it was also a lot cheaper. I would recommend one to anyone.

I run a 2006 L200 new shape and think it is excellent.I am getting 34-36 mpg with it,it drives like a car and pulls a trailer of logs no problem.I think it is different class to the old shape L200.

A good friend of mine has a Ranger double cab and loves it. He regularly gets 34mpg,uses it for shooting as well and we have been on days where there have been four of us in the cab, dog cage in the rear with the muts in and four peoples guns,boots,bags etc in the rear and it just swallos it all up whilst performing like a car on the road.

 

At one of the big estates he picks up on, all the keepers now drive them. He used to have a Mitsubishi Pinnin and I am in the same position as yourself in looking for a new vehicle and he said to stay clear of Mitsubishi as the service intervals are short and the parts very expensive. His throttle linkage needed replacing just outside warranty and cost him £1200.

having used both the l200 and ranger for tree work i really can not fault the ranger , ours is a tipper , it spends most of its life off road and gets worked hard but stands up to what we do with it and does what we need , as for the l200 i would not get one if i knew it was going to spend most of its time off road doing what we do with the ranger , the rangers are relativley cheep to service and repair as opposed to the l200, however if your looking for a truck for road miles and not working it hard then i would go for the l200 .
