The area underneath the tree is a hogging car park. Destruction of the rooting area due to the construction methods used for the car park has resulted in crown die back and the removal of the tree.

Most of the crown was lowered and the stem will be felled.

Was that at a hotel in Bishoptrow?

You were subbed in Frank we know that, what I am trying to find out is the justification of using a crane ?

There appears to be plenty of room and grassed area below the tree as a landing area. I just feel that when a company gets to know a local crane firm they tend to go down that, add the crane hire on and use a crane route.

Dont get me wrong mate, having a mewp sat there at my disposal FOC I could quite easily go down the using the mewp all the time route, but I understand that it will make me lazy so I dont use it unless I really have to.

Craning a tree out when you dont really have to seems barmy and the easy option to me. I would like to have seen the tree and priced it on a standard TD and then priced it on a Craned TD.

I just feel it is uneccessary cost to the customer.

Not actual figures, just a guideline.

3 blokes at say for instance £100 per day each, plus cost of fuel for saws, chipper, transit, etc for 2 days amounts to around a grand.

3 blokes for half a day, plus matey with his crane for £300 quid for half a day, plus much less fuel and chain oil equals less than dismantling in sections, plus job is over and done with without any fuss or too much noise, not disturbing many folks and not interupting busy school access at all.

Can work out cheaper with a crane.

I hear what your saying but what if you hit a snag, weather turns out too windy on the day, car parked under the tree ?

Do the crane companies stand it or does the tree firm
