close, just short of 2 1/2 ton, couldn't believe it first time I have worked with a crane that could weigh it's load but then again as i say it had been a while since the last one I did.

most crane drivers will tell you the weight on there scales which is not a true weight as the hook and head ect are included in the weight they give you always ask what the head and hook weighs as they are heavier than they look

sorry for waffling i know what i mean

Lets see the tree pics you got !

Here's my winch job from Saturday... there was power lines and buildings to avoid but it came over ok .

I'm not sodding surprised it "came over OK" with a winch that size.

This is how things are with my winch refurbishment.

I cant say how much I have spent on

8 bearings,

2 short shafts made,

a second winch for those hard to find odds and ends

even more pressing, turning and parts engineered.

cos the wife may see this, but its more than the whole tractor and winch cost me 8 years ago.

Its slow but

Isnt this because the hook etc is included in the LIFTING weight, so you can calculate the amount to be lifted, as you are liable in the event of miscalculation. I'm going from memory here as its a long time since I worked with a crane.
