Had a job on with Mark Bolam today. Oak, dismantle, 4 stems, approx 65 feet tall and leave everything on site. Mark had a pic and short vid but here are a couple of pics of my phone.

 

A lot of firewood for someone... :thumbup:

 

Damm are you going back there if so grab me afew bits and save them for me :biggrin:

I assume the trees were just heavily infected (if thats the right term) with beef steak fungus, which i think is what causes the colouration.

 

Im sure Hama will be along to correct me if im wrong!

 

Oh yes your on the money!

 

It is highly prized, had it three times in 22 years get somone on here to carve you (and me!) a bowl from a couple of the logs, stunning. gotta love fungi! Good old fistulina hepatica, aint nature great!:thumbup1:

Don't think anyone soon is gonna harvest the fistulina effected lumber in this old fella.

possibly 800 yr old.
