36" bar on a 460?

i have one job coming up which needs a 36" bar, would it be possible to run it on my 460 on rare occasions or does it need a bigger engine? thnks

i wouldnt mate, the money you spend on the bar and chain can go towards a bigger saw.

occassional use on a 660 yes, not on a 460 though!

My 660 runs 36" fine but thats with skip chain.

 

Even with skip on a 460 it would struggle though. Possibly heavily modded, running skip for the odd occasion maybe, but if its a one off/rare accasion, cant you get another saw in or a "help" from another arb?

ive only just brought a 36 inch bar for my 660 hoping it would run it fine.

I ran a 36" on Ukminchs 650. Slightly less power than a 660 but I thought it ran fine. Ringing up some old dry beech. Worked well for a couple days

Besides the power issue of running such a long loop around the 36" bar, a 460 oiler wont be enough to lubricate chain and bar leading to overheating and damage to an already expensive set up.
