there's method in that madness, the chains on my little winch wont go round any thing thicker than about 18" so leaving a few pegs gives us domething to choke on to once its down. the really big one on the right in the first view was left to avoid dropping it on top of some other brash. TBH though pegs are only a real pain when you're rigging.:001_smile:

That's a tidy job Dave, but I've seen it before.

You have become really slack recently about putting up pics of your work. I know you find some of your own stuff boring, but to other people it is arb gold!

That Ash we have just done would have you thinking - 1 day?

Your techniques and kit are awesome mate, and we would like to see them in action more often.

Give!

thats a nice clear stem for rigging Dave, prefer to leve a trunk like that if I'm gonna be rigging down the top stuff.

There are times when it may be appropriate to leave a slighly longer stub during removals for aiding rigging anchor points, or a platfrom to stand onto get better work position, or anchor point for pull-line/or climbing line/re-direct for rigging line, to rule out stubs or pegs completely may make the job just that little bit harder, but I get where your coming from in general. Great pic.
