laz thanks for sharing that looks too easy,is it a tecnique that takes long to learn? and are you planning any courses to teach it.

Like anything worthwhile, there is a learning curve to safety and efficiency, that will always be best served by quality hands on training at the outset.

We run a course that integrates this technique and the 'RAD' SRT system, with one to one personal ergonomics coaching from a fully qualified and very experienced remedial fitness professional.

Nice work Paolo, looks a fantastic way to access the crown, and the gear folds away neater than a ladder.

Thanks. When all is said and done, it is a sensible approach.

And, unlike a ladder, it gets higher than 7m, you can't easily fall off it, or watch it travel across two lanes of traffic.

A ladder is still often a good option though, and is very ergonomic access too. :001_cool:

would it spoil the system to replace torse and croll with a shunt clipped straight to the front d

I feel there is more to be lost than gained by doing that.

The beauty of the Croll is its ability to instantly manage slack. It makes the Frogwalker instantly adaptable to climbing air, against trunks in thick canopies or wearing spikes. Always being secured twice to the rope.

The Torse is instantly adjustable to make sure the right amount of tension is applied to make it stand up correctly and work most efficiently.

How do you find the Grigri for descending? I use one and I find it very good on a dry rope but as soon as the rope gets wet it doesn't seem to let you descend as smoothly as you'd like. I use the grigri as an ascendor/positioner to some extent as well hence like it. I think if I were going to use something for just descending I'd be looking at something like a petzl stop as these are better designed for descending particularly in SRT. With the stop you don't have to unclip it from your harness either and risk dropping the thing where as the grigri if you are switching it on and off the rope there is a chance you can drop it which trust me isn't fun.

Just a thought

Is it possible to incorporate your DdRt system onto the top ascender?

Laz, would'nt mind popping over sometime to see this system. You still in Porthmadog?
