It's all about educating customers. Someone selling some "chopped up wood" that they aquired 4 months ago isn't the same as someone selling premium kiln dried visually pleasing logs that could be used as decorations around a fire.

 

Find out where you are in the scheme, work to this, advertise to this, promote this, sell this.

They may not be trying to under cut you. There is not alot of profit in logs and they could be ringing to find out if they can put their prices up. If one person in your area was bold enough to be 25% higher you may find everyone will follow suit. Logs are in huge demand and are imo a bargain. Most people running log businesses are friendly even on your door step if you get into a price war all that happens is your customers get cheap logs.[/quote

I get this at least once a week and i'm happy to to try and bump up price expectations.
