Now now you lot i see it different:laugh1:. Tell him to chip on in and have a look at the cctv with you and see what he has to say. Give him the chat about disappointment and i think that your 'friend' will see you in a different light as being fair but firm and then tell that you can't afford to give him any more chances and hopefully he'll realise that he's taken the rise a little bit and things will be great. I had the same problem with my mate thinking i was an idiot. He borrowed my van to do a 'tip run' and it came back with about 150 miles on the clock. I had him about it and now he can't do enough for me!! Even the odd hour here and there for free. Guilt trip:lol::lol:

Its a bit awkward i recon your talking a 100 quid here tops, give him a lecture a dock his wages accordingly,if hes a mate and does his job properly,it may be worth letting it go this time, sack him and he could tell some scummy sorts and theyll come round and clean you out, watch him like a hawk and make sure he knows you are, good luck and dont be hastey.

I know what yer saying Andy we laid a guy off for something similar a few years back,he came back drained fuel tanks slashed tyres stole 1000s of pounds worth of stock, and then got his job back over an unfair dismissal tribunal type of thing,a very bizzarre situation that was totaly avoidable, you really have to be careful.
