110 chipper thoughts?

running a chipper on white is as wrong as running a road taxed vehicle on red.. the landy pto would be ideal otherwise

 

true, but how many hundreds of hours would you need to run it on red with its own dedicated engine to recoup the cost of the dedicated engine in the first place vs. running it on DERV with a PTO just for chipping duties but excluding the cost of DERV on-road which you need anyway! ;)

Innovative .... maybe.... and maybe the solution to a problem they came across..... or is it a problem needing solving:001_rolleyes:

 

 

i agree it's not a problem that necessarily NEEDS solving,, but then it doesnt need to be,, it's merely another option,,

 

i dont like to have a tipper pickup, i would however use that,, then a tipping trailer with chip box,

imagine how much chip you could get into a good sized trailer too..:thumbup1:

if you can put >110HP in one end of the gearbox and get out >110hp out the other end and pull big trailers using every bit of power which has to go threw the gearbox anyway then yes I do, or do you somehow think a small kabota engine and 3 v-belts to be stronger with more torque! ;)

 

the LR PTO goes on the rear of the transfer box and cost ~£250 for the drive flange type.

 

Chill dude, it was a question, no need to jump on it.

 

It’s not about comparing a Kubota engine or belt drive or even how much a vehicle will tow, what I asked was is the gearbox up to the lashing a chipper will give it a few hours a day.

 

I know one vehicle with a PTO that eats the bearing on a regular basis.

(A) some very narrow minded views on the first page,, suprised...

 

i think it's great,, (B) shame it's a timber wolf,, but it's innovative and a nice solution,, smaller job? chip into the box and go, larger job? tow a tipping chip trailer and bobs your uncle,,

 

personally i salute the makers for trying something a little different,,

what about sitting the chiping chamber side by side with the engine & chipping in to a hitched trailer,ie put the chipper chamber on the low side of the chassi behind the cab & the engine over the rear axle !!! or some other configuration if you get what im looking @:001_smile:tommer will prob get what im thinking of

The biggest problem I have found with machines running all day such as cherry pickers, or when we used to put landys on the dairy to use the pro to run the vac pump, was the damage done to the valve stem oil seals in the engine, never the transmission from the PTO.
