The Russians ability to get a job done whatever the circumstances is remarkable.

30 years ago I worked on some Russian drilling rigs in the Libyan Sahara & witnessed their determination to just keep on going. They held the footage record over American, Canadian, French & Australian rigs.

Such methods can certainly achieve remarkable results, but at considerable risk. Under the Soviet system they were probably driven by the fear of the consequences if they failed to achieve their target.

For the logging truckers, they are either on massive bonuses distorting their senses, or a Russian ogliarch is cracking the whip.

(I say "go anywhere", perhaps that should be "go anywhere providing it's not too far from a filling station". 40 litres per 100 km works out at 7mpg, or about £18 quid in fuel for me to do the 10 miles to work and back!!!)

 

260 litres of fuel storage = £312 to fill it at £1.20 / litre. So much for the £60 limit on a pay at pump payment...!
