had these boots for three years now and no problems with them especially round the rand or with the FG system swapped out the spikes for the blanking plate.

There is no way you can be wearing and climbing in them every day though? Hiaxs last me 6 months before the soles come off from being jammed in tight unions !

My first pair of treckers lasted 2 years, the second pair have done 20 months so far.

I suspect the main reason for some people having problems is diesel spills. Diesel or petrol will rot the glue away ion no time, it soaks into the leather and eats the glue from the inside. I spliled some on one boot and within a week or so the outer rubber was separating from the leather, I glued it back and it has lasted fairly well.

If youi spill fuel on your boots wash is off streight away... at £150-200 a pair they are worth a bit of care.

i think another reason that some pairs fall appart is that some people walk diferently and may scuff the toes a lot which wears the front off and allows the sole to separate

i do take on board your coments and ideas but these boots are classed as pe and should although they are chainsaw boots i would expect them to be like every other safety boot on the market - stable to use in relation to petrol and oils - meaning that the sole should not fall apart . but yes i would expect anyone to clean their boots of should this happen .

i have decided that after a year and not hearing anythink back from them that i would take the oppertunity to hand the boots back to Work Wear when i visit the AA arb show this weekend .

My advice to anyone wishing to perchase a decent pair of boots that are not going to fall appart is to think long and hard before buying a pair of haix !!!! let be honest its not really acceptable for the soles to come appart but when the steel mid sole actually starts to fall out the side of the boot you start to wonder just how much thy would protect you in the event of a chainsaw cutting them !!!!!!! Not alot i shouldnt think
