US Vs UK Prices?!

Can anyone explain why chainsaws are so much cheaper in the US than the UK?

 

USA - Husqvarna 346xp with 18 bar - $429.95 on Baileys website = £216.78 GBP

UK - Same saw and bar on FR Jones(which has the best price on saws I've found in the UK) - £422.64 inc Vat.

So the same saw and bar combination works out at £216.78 in the US but £422.64 in the UK.

 

Why is that?

It all comes down to the size of the market. Compare the size of the timber industry in US to that of UK ? It is the same for us in Ireland we pay more for saws than in UK and have a limited range with the exception that we get the 192 sthil. About 750euro for 200t and about 1050euro for 041. All that said we all know that the above argument is used to the max by suppliers (no offence Mr Jones !) when justifying prices.

you should remember the price in the USA for a US citizens will be + state and federal tax

and strangly it is not the same item also, huski and still will both tell you (how true i dont know) that there are tech differances with the machines

 

as for the lack of a ce mark well lets not go there

Only the husqvarnas are worth getting from the states,ALL of the stihls ive got from the US were inferior,still ok but just not as good..

why would you want a 346 with an 18" bar anyway...miles too big for it!!!
