I think exclusivity rights for retail will have a massive effect on potential sales aswell. I know loads of tree cutter wannabes round here who would buy a calender like that but don't use Arbtalk so will be oblivious to it's existence.

this is true, however its already asking a lot of the sponsors to finance the calendar, i think to then turn around and ask them to sell the calendar containing their competitors adverts might be pushing my luck:001_smile:

Arbtalk Calender.......

I am working on an idea with regards putting an Arb Talk calender together for 2011 with all proceeds going to The Childrens Trust at xmas. The calender will run along similar lines to my tree of the month thread with general info about a particular tree, wood properties, myths and legends, uses, species of wood decay fungi and its effect on host trees (Will be asking Hama and David to help me with this one!) Hopefully we can incorporate Arb dates into the calender......carving events, arb shows. climbing comps etc.........a diluted down Arb Talk in paper form if you like.

So what do you all think? Good idea? Would you buy one? What would you like to see in it? ( I have attached a basic template but this is a very early prototype to give you an idea of what it might look like.)

Sean

Excellent idea and the concept and draft probably isn't far off the mark, with a few of the other ideas like pearls of wisdom type quotes. I know its a draft but as well as Arbtalk at the top, the website address as well wouldn't go a miss just so the uninformed can become informed incase they totally miss the relevance of the name.

Sorry Frank, I was being lazy earlier and didn’t read the whole thread. You’re right as well – involving members is a key issue – could have a big effect on potential sales.

I cant see how it is a 'big issue' with regards sales. Arb talk members will be involved but even if I put it all together myself and it was a fine and interesting product for a childrens charity people would still buy it surely??:confused1:
