what to do with this beech??

wonder if tree was there before house, and if so what surrounded it, looks like it had neighbours at some point in time,

 

what do you reckon caused the imbalance/lean of trunk

 

think that would be a work in progress to get that re-balanced,hard to see reduction points from pic,

 

initially i entertained walloping the three limbs off to eleviate the lobsidedness and then allow remainding crwn to fill the space and be tad more 'aesthetically' pleasing

Removing those limbs, well NO! :thumbdown:

i thought beech liked being heavily pruned

 

making big cuts like that at the stem unions is frought with danger.

 

If it was thinned out one year quiet heavily then allowed to shoot out lower down again, a very, very fine reduction (by fine I mean shape and form wise) could be done on this tree at a later date.

 

or it could be pollarded, far better than a fell option.

 

last option is to fell and replant, with a fastigiate example that would not encroach on the house so much.

 

A beech wants to be broad after all.
