the connect is probably a little big, and the escort is probably a bit too old,its for my employee to take home at night so economy and cheap insurance are important.

Is it the newer ones? My older shape Combo (w reg) isn't great on fuel as the 1.7 is only a 45hp engine with no turbo so you spend a lot of the time revving it just so it doesn't come to an abrupt halt.

Yeah new shape goes well 75hp

Ive got a vauxhall combo 1.7 cdti fast little thing, plenty of room inside for kit great on fuel, cant fault it. Also Berlingo's are brilliant vans with bomp prof engines id go vauxhall or Berlingo myself.

We have a few small vans and they all do 40 + mpg. The most comfy of them is the Peugeot partner , the Freelander td4 commercial is a good little van and the same again good on fuel.

+1 for Vauxhall Combo, mine is the 1.3 diesel. Reasonably nippy and good on fuel. Ex british gas as well, it was immaculate when I got it and had all fitted shelves, extra lights, 12v socket in the back and separate security locks.
