Rare Fungi

Recommended Posts

Do Euro-fungi count?

I don't know what this is, some kind of Phellinus perhaps. I think it might be Phellinus torulosus - it's probably not rare at all, but I've never heard of it. It's a perennial bracket with a hard upper surface, smooth underside and velvety reddy-brown margin.

It's on a Judas tree in Rome.

Nice set, can you remember how far off the trunk they were?

Got three or four site here at HH, and one of them is on a mown strip of grass, along a line of vet Oaks.

Going to get the tractor boys to mow around them this year.

Rdl an all that :thumbup1:

Now.....need to do a little more research before I'm happy, but i believe this to be a very young forming Piptoporus quercinus - Oak polypore, here on the retained dead wood on this Oak.

Stumbled across it today at the Whip.

Due to it's size I originally thought it was a set of Enteridiums.

So knocked a bit off to get a closer look :blushing:

Will have to get back to check on it.
