Here it is too, david, keep your eyes peeled for a crown topped coral, thats a rare beastie!:thumbup1:

Clavicorona pyxidata

Scientific name: Clavicorona pyxidata (Pers.) Donk

Derivation of name: Pyxid- means "a small box" referring

to the boxlike (pyxidate) branch tips.

Synonyms: Clavaria pyxidata Pers.

Common name(s): Crown-tipped coral

Phylum: Basidiomycota

Order: Russulales

Family: Auriscalpiaceae

Occurrence on wood substrate: Saprobic; solitary or

clustered on wood of deciduous trees; June through

September.

Dimensions: Fruitbody up to 10 cm tall and wide.

Description: White to yellowish; highly branched,

candelabra-like from a common stalk-like base; branches

culminate in crown-like tips.

Edibility: Edible; peppery taste.

Comments: One of the few coral fungi that fruit on wood.

Reckon the photo is taken somewhere else...Trying to identify the moss to track down the site...... a wee bit blurred though.:laugh1:

lol, going to do a bit of digging about in the records for this, then track down a likely habitat, this and the bombycina surecta shall be my next missions!
