Toyota Hilux Surf!

A mate of mine is thinking of buying one, He's a builder so he wants it to tow his trailer. He's after a cheap (ish) 4x4

 

Between us we dont know much about them, Just wondered what people on here thought of them?

Wont tow as well as a landcruiser, as its a glorified HI-lux, but a good truck all the same.

Usually a bit expensive for their age as they are all imported, but that means they often have every conceivable extra like air con etc.

 

Manual ones are quite rare, our Japenese friends seems to prefer automatics.

I had this one here. Main prob is that they need stronger springs on the back or they sit low/ high at front even with just granny in the back. I have the contact details of where to get them, and other parts. Otherwise a tidy motor, Nissan terrano is better though especially as a work vehicle.

I paid about 2k for this wee beasty at the jap car auction in Liverpool. You have to get it UK plated yourself, I have all the details for all this as well

A bloke I know has got a Iveco something or other but said its amazing truck and he is always taking trailers full of chesnut around everywhere and says it pulls realy well.

Is the uk model the 4 runner?? they are like hens teeth, only seen 1 for sale on the net.

 

Hes probably gonna get a Surf, just gotta find a decent one for sale

This is a better working jap 4x4, nissan terrano. This one in NZ, haven't seen them over here:confused1:
