i used to help out 1 day a week inbetween my previous job till i was offered a full time position, never looked back, that was 10 years ago, went on my own 2 years back

was out of work and got offerd a job tidying up.very quickly got bored so pushed to get my tickets done, and now 3 years later im leading a 3 man team

Was bored of floating around from job to job. It just seemed like a good idea at the time. 14 years later, i'm still at it!

my old job as a national transport manager was crap 140+ wagons that ran 24hrs 364.5 days a year running food from food manufacturers to the major supermarkets timed deliverys etc stress blah headaches blah nightmares etc no family time etc

trees are the best work a working man can get, honest, hard, fun @ work .

decent mone,y working outside, no office politics.

I was told too! I started as a nipper cleaning saws and tidying ropes. Used to have to work weekends tending brash fires (everything was always burnt in the old days) and deadwooding with a 3 strand rope, grey GT belt and a bowsaw.

I never really imagined doing anything else - although now I wish I had

wa sgoing to to do a degree in forest managment but need 2 years exp. in a related job,17 years later i'm still trying to get my 2 years experiance;)

Had a desk job selling safaris - office was in the countryside in Suffolk and after 2 years I realised that I spent most of the day looking outside wishing I was out in it!

Arb ticked more boxes of my interests than any other land-based career.

Been rock climbing for 18 years now and got bored of the manufacturing job (although I am still there - money) and wanted to work outdoors. Worked a few days with a mate, bought a cheap saw, did felling ticket, started advertising and things have grown from there. I am still part time but I am sure if i pushed all the jobs I got offered I could fill full time hours.

Spent 10 years working for the wildlife trusts managing the best parts of the countryside. Then 4 years ago set up on my own and began working for myself...last couple of years the tree work has come good and loving it.
