Boots!

Guys,

Got my cs30/31 next week and need to get some boots. The itinerary says that I have to wear steel toe capped boots. Would you suggest I get some cheapy steel toe boots for the course then something like a pair of airstreams for the future. Or would you go for a better pair of steel toes and use those for everything inc climbing as well? (cs38/39 week after)

Recommendations welcome!

From what I remember, you need chainsaw boots rather than just regular steelies for any actual cutting activity. If you want a fairly cheap pair, go for the Stihl Specials, made by Elten, and ask the college if they have a student discount with any local suppliers. Oh, and avoid chainsaw wellies like the plague :001_cool:

my faves are the elten hydrofells. they tend to be breathable, very waterproof and the best bit is the sole, its more of a rubbery compound which helps to grip when climbing and walking on wet brash. most others ive tried have a harder plasticy sole which proves very slippy!!

but yeah, you need a pair of chainsaw protective boots, any webshop on the right or your local chainsaw shop will happily help!

Entry level boots Oregon logger £95.00 at HB.... stihl special fell apart in 2 weeks.. 2 pairs in a row..got the monies back no questios so must be a regular problem, very soft sole..... I have HIAX protector pro nice boots well into 2nd year of life..

Had the Stihls since July, worn for work all the time and no problems at all. Even through the snow they did not leak. :001_smile:
