how i translate it is landys have around a 1t payload, (youd better check!) and 3.5t towing capability

so if you have a trailer licence, you can chuck 1t in the back, and tow upto 3.5 t.

with youre licence however, you can only put upto 1t in the landy, so long as the landys weight (with load) stays under 3.5t, and tow the chipper, bringing you to 4250kg

but if the landys got a tipper conversion, this eats into the payload too

think thats right. sure someone will confirm/deny

the landy deffo 3t and thats with tipper prob best if a do the trailer licence anyway save any future comeback cheers lads

So 3t or 3000Kg NOT 3.5t or 3500Kg.

Even with the test, you need to be really careful its so easy to over load small trucks. :001_smile:

You should remember the law uses KG as in 3500kg, tonnes as in 3.5t metric (1t = 1000kg) & long tons being rounded to the nearest 10kg so ~1016kg = 1 ton

This is why the law for some vehicles is 3550kg being 3.5 ton (age related)

Or why weight limits for trailers behind e.g. tractors can be no more than 18290kg or 18 ton & why the GTW of a tractor is 24390kg or 24 ton, the same method is use for most HGV weights of using long tones rounded up/down for the most part but not always.

tonne = 1000kg metric tonne or 1t

ton = 1016kg long ton or 1 ton
