Art Rope guide..........worth it???

i use a home made one which has the same pulley as the art one and its great i dont think i would climb on a normal cambium saver again, still its pricey but making the day easier over the months would be worth it imo.

They work well with a lock jack,and it takes a bit of practice but you can get one up with a throw line,well worth the money i recon.

try 1 wayne you wont be disapointed.ive got a home made one with a cocoon,retrieves really well.the ART are very well made but yes quite pricey.they are $800 over here.plus you will def notice how much easier climbing becomes,sounds stupid but its true

defo worth it, just buy coccon and make ur own tho. thoses rings just get stuck.

 

thought of a mint idea today. splice coccon into one end of rope, then just tie a alpine butterfly in the rope, put coccon through there. and put catcher on the other end of rope. bob ur uncle, megga cheap rope guide, works well on straight stems as it chokes it self. very easy to retive, only possible of getting stuck, is coccon getting stuck in tight crocth.

 

but just choke on stem instead for that tight crocth. try it on ur normal rope guides and let me know how u go.

I got mine thinking I'd only use it on big trees, I use it on virtually everything. It saves so much wear on your rope too, the extra life you get out of your rope should help with the coming to terms with the price. Being able to choker it onto a stem and still get ot down again is also a bonus.

 

I'd rather have a rope guide and a crap prusic/rope combo than a hitchclimber with great cord and perfect hitch but no rope guide.

id wait before you get one there are new ones coming on the market cheaper than the rg's and better for set up and retrieval. i use one lots but still carry a cambium saver too it can be usefull at times when a rg doesnt do the job.

get it, they're great. they can be a bit of a git to get back but they're well worth it.
