Ok some of you know im at college and some may not anyway im at college doing tree surgery and im doing CS 30, 31, 38 and 39.

 

What im wondering is when im finished what tickets would be benificial too me or help me find a job? Or should the company i get a job with put me through more tickets as and when required? :wave:

i am also at college and my major tickets i come out with are cs 30,31 38 and 39. but also dismantle, chipper, stump grinder and mewp . these are offered to me as a secondary learning goal so they wil be free. you shuld see if your college offers the same thing

Im about to start my training in may, and the qaulifications i get are as follows,

 

NPTC CS30/31/38/39, Brushwood Chipper Operations, MEWP Operations and HSE First Aid at Work

Common sense, a will to work, and will to learn are far more important to an employer than tickets other than the basics, i've been an employer for over 15 years and thats what I look for.

 

If I were you I wouldn't worry about more tickets, these will come in time and with the right employer

In relation to general tree work. The NPTC tickets are just a starting point, the very basics of what we do. You need time on the ground using the saw before you can even think of climbing and cutting for money.

 

You need to get experience working with good arborists.

 

Having said that, there are some units ie - spraying etc that will help you find work with specialist companies.

Many, many years ago in a different industry I had to deal with an arterial bleed - frightening !

A sheet of plate glass sheared onto a girls wrist - I had to slap her to get her attention (she was running around hysterically) then I cleared her wrist of glass before I clamped it with my own hand and raised it as high in the air as poss. I then phoned for an ambulance with my free hand (luckilly the ambulance only took 3 minutes)

 

All fine in the end - but a bit of a shock for me at the time as I was only 19. (I did lots of first aid training in scouts - which helped)

if you havent already got it, consider a trailer towing test cos there are fewer people around who can tow these days. out of 6 in our team, only 2 can tow.
