How many trailers can you tow?

Coming up the motorway today I saw a fair towing two trailers behind one vehicle. What are the legalities of this? Could you tow a chipper and a trailer if you didn't exceed train weight?

Showmans licence allows, I believe, you to tow up to six trailers. Think they are also tacho exempt!

i believe there is an exemption for certain peeps, but never us!!

 

i remember a while back, tractors could take 2 or 3 trailed implements, and some toff put the stoppers on it!

That would sound about right. I guess that's how land trains operate on the road to.

You can tow two with a car.

 

There are regs that describe exactly what is allowed, but basically if the weight of the second trailer is pressing on the first & the first is designed & adapted to carry that load & all the train weights are ok plus the right brakes its legal.
