MS200T Idling Issue?

Why would the idling speed on the 200T be going fast then slow as I tilted the saw at different angles on idle?

 

The chain starts turning when its tilted to the right or left or bar pointing upwards and downwards?

 

Is this a fuel supply issue?

 

Anyone help?

the tube which connects the carb to the piston could be perished/split, when you tilt saw, the split/perished bit opens/closes allowing air into the already mixed air/fuel combo. fidily but easy fix. mine split last week, i was able to see the split looking at the pipe through the gap between the bottem of air filter, and rear saw body

Sounds like a small split in the rubber manifold that connects the carb to the barrel, v easy to change. Start saw put c brake on and hold saw body whilst flexing top handle, engine tickover should change.( Safer to remove bar and chain first)

God knows Tim, one minute mine will do the same for a few days then it will be okay for a while. Stihl need to buck their idea's up where the 200 is concerned. Reckon they've sat back on their laurels.....have you noticed how people on here have started enquiring about other toppers lately?

Could be worn carb too, but most likely what others have said re fuel feed tube........and yaeh the 200 is crap compared to what they were.

Sounds like as others have said the rubber hose which can be found under the airfilter back of top handle is split, its a common problem, it gets a twig jammed around under the filter housing and every so often it will split the hose.

 

Apart from the batch of dodgy carbs, which stihl replaced free, ive NEVER had much to winge about with the 200/20t's.

Have to echo this sentiment....

As above really....other possibles include

Fuel tank breather hose

Carburetor diaphragm

[High Scale]

My two 020t's are ten years old or more and still run like Ben Johnson on a Belgian mix, granted, I have rebuilt them/new rings/replaced parts etc but really, there is no other.

 

Yeah Tim it's a split in the rubber I would wager.

Could also be the crankcase seals drawing in air, as you rotate the saw the crank can slide in and out of the seals a bit.

 

Would deffo try the all the mentioned above first though, rubber to carb,fuel pipe and pipe from crankcase to carb(well handle actuallly then carb)
