I'm doing nights as we speak and taking down a big oak laters on... just bought meself a headtorch... working on motorway embankments in the brambles isn't nice ut ya get used to it

Depends what sort of climbing you're doing..

Done a few dismantles and a bit of cutting clearance along embankments.

 

Deffinatley get yourself a good head torch... if you're working with flood lights it takes a while gettng used to one side of the tree being dark and one light but it's generally quite enjoyable IMO.

Sounds interesting, seems like a head torch is the way to go and petzl do some excellent ones. Although if you planning on doing this sort of thing for a long time, look at a helmet mount Ayup which mountain bikers use. Yes they are expensive but you won't find a better lightweight light around. I brought one and you get a funky orange peli case with it for storage and they come with various different mounts. A sound investment and rechargable.

i have a petzl head torch ,my petzl vertex helmet has the clips all built in to hold it nice

We had big spot lights that we could fit to our lorries lit the places up well enough to not worry too much. also it was when i worked for a ex-council company so there was normally an abundance of street lighting.

as for a head torch get a led lenser H7, it is amazing better than any petzle ones ive seen, but as you could imagine you pay for it

I always found that the lights on the trucks and generator had the opposite effect because they are on the ground shining up straight into your eyes.

 

You need the best head torch money can buy, even had em taped onto the saw's. LED's are ideal because they are so small and light weight.

i have not done work at night but have climbed trees at night, i mounted a small torch to my helmet and it worked wonders:thumbup:
