Hamas big reduction/pruning thread!

Recommended Posts

Haha this is gonna be fun to keep an eye on!!

If it REALLY needs pruning, have you got the right tree, in the right place, for the right reasons? Just think what we could quote for a take-down and replant?!

Now I'm not an expert and never will be by any means "Big Joe" but surely from what you said there that means that there should be NO trees in the urban environment and all the ones in that environment should be felled because NO tree is in the right place in an urban environment. Right?

so it seems that if a highly valued tree is interfering with a building, instead of just pruning it away from the building, it should just be felled and a little cheap nursery stock tree should be put in its place? Based on the opinion that its bad so it should be felled.

I have thought and thought what to write here.

However I seem to be going round in circles.

To sum up.

Pollards are brilliant, reductions are brilliant, crown thinning is brilliant, and in some circumstances when a tree must be removed, replanting is brilliant.

Lets forget the nanny state we live in and look to europe's Pollard lined streets and see with our own eyes the effect of good reductions.

End of topic?

Tom.

The game is changing. Adapt, or die.

what a load of dribble!!!!!!!!!!

this lime is in the range of 450-600 years of age, it was estimated that it had been pollarded around about 150 years ago looking at the judging by its morphology i would say its been pollarded more than once, now i was asked 8 years ago to give my professional advice on whether or not the home owners should remove it????? no no no i said, 30% mas reduction would be more than enough to see this old girl out a few more years, and well and behold she has stud up to some of the most stronest winds lincolnshire has seen in the last 10 years......as you can see also from the pictures she is sealing very well, so had i taken her down 8 years ago what would we be looking at now.......another lime? with about 6" base 15ft tall? the only day that old girl gets to see the wrong side of a chainsaw is when she hits the decks on her own accord......:001_tt2:

now i can see the points of views from both sides, as said before i sit on the fence and choose no sides, but calling all of us ignorant, thats taking the FP ??????
