nice read that david.... Thanks for sharing, those scans are awesome really good to see that co-dominant stems are still a major learning factor be interesting to see some of his conclusions.....:thumbup:

May I ask how much experience you have in the field? More often than not, a Reduction is the last life line a tree has when a person decides it's blocking out too much sunshine! And seeing as people are so nonchalant about cutting trees down, I believe managing trees in THIS way IS the future if we are to enjoy mature trees that aren't in a woodland!

 

Have you a link to more information on ' Pruning trees to death'? I'd like to read more about that...?

Duncan's research is interesting and has caused a few 'spin off' dissertations which I am looking forward to seeing and had some involvement in gaining materials for one of them.

 

Re the bad and good trees. What about the ones in the middle? Cut them in half?
