Hamas big reduction/pruning thread!

Recommended Posts

yeah they should be fine with a 36"on mark...complete thread derail but im running some coronas at the momment,i gotta say though, they are the worse secateurs i have brought no substitute for felcos!

thats no derail!

Felcos cant be beat IMO, and are well underused in my IMO, something i am also guilty of:blushing:

Something that also taught me a thing or two was doing one of my collage assignments regarding bypass loppers as apposed to blade and anvil types. might seem like a simple and granted piece of knowledge but we should all be on bypass rather than anvil types.

has anyone got a preference to a specific make type of loppers/croppers?

tWas a thin / reduction / deadwood / clean old pruning cuts / crown lift. Customer wanted All bottom branches taking off and height coming down by half which I wasn't prepared to do so that was a happy medium. He was really chuffed and paid up straight away, so we legged it haha.

I bought some Wilkinson Sword loppers from B&Q:blushing:

Actually really good, they are the gearded ones and for general chopping of bits and pieces they are ideal. Also have pair of the large Felco loppers. They are excellent but 4x the price of the B & Q ones. Not sure if should be more embarrased about buying tools in B and Q or spending over 100 quid on loppers now:biggrin:

Doubt the Band Q ones are Bypass loppers, more anvil types (cheaper) always fancied the felco loppers and will have a pair as soon as poss.

we have to use bypass rather than anvils, thats the main thing, cost of loppers not so important!
