The 361 is too heavy for a primary groundsman saw.

My preference would be Stihl MS 260 or Husqvarna 346XP with a 15" bar.

I think the weight is fine, i could happily use an ms441 all day as my only groundsaw, any heavier it would start getting abit of a pian

026 with a 15 inch bar for newbies, then downsize the bar to a 13" one when you get more confident and get a bigger capacity saw with a 25" bar to complement it. But tbh, for new lads i would recommend a smaller cc saw, that isnt as agrresive, i had a nice little stihl that i sold from a job, i think it was about 30cc, they are only £180 i think, it was a really nice light little saw.

I can only post as an enthusiastic amateur, but I bought a 346xp based on lots of advice from here and it's a great saw. The pickup is very quick, which makes it a dream for snedding and trimming, and when you need to cut something bigger it has the power. I don't like the switchgear as much as a Stihl, and it's not so easy to start as it could be, but it's light and well balanced and cuts for ages on a tank of fuel.

I really like it, I can use it for hours and not get tired or pumped.

I`ve use a 357 with 15 - 18" bar and i think its great. 346 is lighter, less power but also good. 260`s i havn`t used for a while but they used to be fine. See if you can try a few then you can decided if you want a bit more power (if you`re doing a bit of medium logging), or a bit less weight (more for snedding and a bit of logging) all pro type saws are fine if you look after them.

ive used the 260's, the 361 and a 65, of all of em i just love the ms361 for allround useability, its a nice inbetweener saw and it still has punch with a 24 inch bar on it, i found the 260's a bit lacking in power when trying to log up bigger bits, or on harder wood.
