Weekly reminder that 90% of people who drive pickups would be better off with a van. Load spaces are lower, larger, more secure and waterproof.

I'd love a 4x4 van than tows 3500kg. Much more practical than a pick

4x4, van, 3500kg towing are the 3 main good things that meant I got a 110 hardtop. Add low depreciation, it almost looks sensible.

There are a few downsides to owning a defender though.....

Didn’t have a canopy on it but there are quite a few of the new shape Hilux out here in Thailand.

Launched last year, I guess they will be The Eurozone soon enough.

As for canopy backs I have one on mine.  Can’t remember the brand but they are pretty popular.

As for water tightness.  The only time I have had any significant ingress of moisture is in the motor way in torrential rain as your rear or parked up in similar circumstance.

The two vertical gaps either side of the tail gate let the water in.

BTW.  The picture is chipping into the scrub.

Also to note FTR.  There is a lot less tool crime here in Norway.  So not a worry so far in that regard.  Locks work well though.

Looks handy, not pretty mind, but handy nevertheless.

It looks distinctly unhandy. Try and load a Hobbs into those lockers without getting it in your teeth or denting the ludicrously expensive coachwork. A van floor is two feet lower and you can get in it to manoeuvre said awkward load.

There’s a lot of good things in this video. Small vehicles are best. You could have a mortar platform on the truck versions.

Here you are, @Johnsond. This and your daughter having a black boyfriend. That should get the blood pumping.

Well someone is bored it would seem. What a proper dumb arse ignorant statement in both respects.
If that’s the best you can come up with “ Pick up trucks don’t belong in Britain “ by Simon Kelner”, then a cheap little racist dig, those two things are supposed to “ get my blood pumping”. FFS come on lad if you are gonna do it at least put some effort in.

😞
