Först is known for having an aggressive feed system that really grabs wood, and they offer a great, no-quibble 3-year warranty which is a big plus for service value.

Aggressive feed until the top roller shears off its hydraulic motor, as happened with a few I know of.

Jensen and TP machines are getting some good reviews- not many bad chippers about these days and a lot is down to budget and preference

Not spoilt for choice in the 8"  diesel tracked variety though? 4 off the top of my head, one of which is hybrid?

Tbf I think they have shaken out most of the initial issues they had with the Doosan engine on them. Eg relays vibrating loose, radiators failing, bonnet hinge bolts falling out, dashboard/display complete failures, electric throttle failures, oh and the dpf doesn't like it if you talk to it rudely.

You forgot chassis bending . 🙂

Anything anyone would recommend other than a Forst or a Timerwolf/GreenGech(owned by the same company now aren't they?)

Are are newer forsts as unreliable as people make out?

Schliesing are great chippers and last forever ,main dealer near reading though so a fair way from you

We have a tracked 235 cant fault it, I would not go back to another brand , plus points is the galv chassis is strong enough for a decent winch which I think if you have a tracked machine it is a game changer , I know a few makes that have folded and bent when they have had winches fitted , they go on forever and although overland are the other end of the country to me we  find them bang on for help and parts … they are very agricultural machines so easy to work on if you have some mechanical aptitude.

problem I think is with forst Is once you have bought in to them the resale is so bad you are kind of stuck with them as no one else really wants to touch them … which is fine I guess if your happy with the machine and your trading in for another once the warranty has ran out.

What are you running now Mick? still got the Forst or changed it?

Went back to TW, got a 230.

Best chipper pound for pound I’ve ever had, everyday it amazes me.
