I have been offered some Yew wood (for my stove) and have never had it before. I would be interested to understand more about it - the quality / heat output, does it split easily and season relatively quickly? Thanks!

Although it’s a softwood it dries like concrete so get it split as soon as possible. High heat output and burns like a hardwood. I always keep some back to sell to woodturners - quite popular. Used to do it via eBay but that’s all gone to shit now so I have around a ton of 13 year seasoned that a local fella sorts through and buys off me periodically 👍

Yew know 🙂 I don't think I have ever burnt it , despite living next door to the biggest block of ancient yew forest in Europe .

I thought it was Elder in which resides the spirit of the Hag goddess.

Yew will burn superbly and lights quickly due to the oils. I'd advise thin rings to ease splitting- think 'cubes' rather than rectangles for your logs.
