Spikes, what do you use and what type of fastening do they have around the foot - have you tried other types?

I've used Distel's and a few others, all had worn out leather straps, found them a pain to get on and needed a few adjustments before they were secure for climbing.

I want to get my own pair with a different type, likely the webbing buckles.

Started off with some Stein cos they were cheap, absolute sh1te. Bashlins are favourite of those I've used.

Leather boot straps, velcro upper work well for me.

I have carbon Geckos which came with velcro straps top and bottom.

The bottom straps were a pita, so when they wore out I replaced them with webbing and buckles and never looked back.

Me too, but still happy in them. Read elsewhere they suit people with long legs.

I'd agree with Mark, velcro upper (big area so secure, adjustable, padded) and buckle lower is best compromise.
