Pear tree trimming

Hi,

does this pear tree need cutting back a bit or should it be left alone?

(it’s just in front of the shed bottom right, so I guess about 10 meters tall)

I guess there’s surgeons that trim trees and those that just want to take them down 😢

Is it your tree? Seems a bit drastic, but at least you can reach more of the pears now!

 

I'm not a fan of pears. I've never had a pear that made me stop and think about it.

Ooh that looks a bit shit to be honest - not a proper reduction, just a “topping”

Not what I was expecting.

No caravan. Decided to climb the tree and not use a ladder.

And then there's "Loppers and Toppers"! Ouch. Doesn't look like they could be bothered to do any kind of sympathetic shaping, those sides haven't been touched. Did you show them your picture of the desired outcome?

Pears can be lovely. But. You have to catch them in that golden 5 minute period, when they change from rock hard and tasteless, to a fragile water balloon type thing that collapses into mush and juice as soon as you look at it.

Yep, showed them the photo I posted here. Doing nothing would have been a closer resemblance.

Live and learn I’m afraid - get recommendations, more than one quote etc and go with who you feel can do what you want/gives ideas and opinions for the desired outcome

Had similar- quoted a prunus reduction, they couldn’t wait till I could get there so had some Romanian gardeners do it.

wouldnt take the waste away and the tree was appalling - got me in to chip the waste and try to salvage a shape from the wreckage

It looks like you have unfortunately managed to employ the same tree surgeon who did a shit job the first time round.
