I’m moving house and can’t take my 10/12 foot fir tree with me . The tree is very sentimental to me and could I take a cutting from it to keep or a sapling

Yep, fir trees propagate from cuttings. Google the specifics, there's loads of blogs and articles and everything out there, but late spring to early summer is the time to do it. 

 

Anyway, 10-12ft can be moved if you're careful. You'll need a digger.
