Fir tree

I’m moving house and can’t take my 10/12 foot fir tree with me . The tree is very sentimental to me and could I take a cutting from it to keep or a sapling

Yep, fir trees propagate from cuttings. Google the specifics, there's loads of blogs and articles and everything out there, but late spring to early summer is the time to do it. 

 

Anyway, 10-12ft can be moved if you're careful. You'll need a digger.

I will send a photo as I’m not sure what kind of fir it is. I move house in 4 weeks so getting worried now

You could also try air layering as a propagation method.

You'd need to come back for the cuttings in more than 4 weeks so you'd need to arrange something with the new owners.

If it’s that special for you rootball it or pot and take it with you, I did these maples for a customer to take
