There isn’t a market.

The internet means that you can have what you want in 48 hours or possibly 24 from Skyland, Honeys or Gustharts.

Better off selling a really good range of gloves and consumables.

Probably make more money with a pallet of screenwash or blue roll (workshop wipes) in the shop, everyone needs it!

Au contraire,

I went into a rental machinery repair shop the other day.

Courant had a little stand there, a couple of harnesses, a range of biners, some other bits and bobs, I bet you it was sale or return (the shop only pays for what they sell) I picked up a prussik and a tool holder thing you stow your saw on your harness.

Pleased as punch with my couple of bits.

I’m sure a few years back we had an argument about you never high clipping your saw, and me saying you were backward.

It’s good to know a French shopkeeper’s opinion is more valid than mine.

On the other hand, it is important to support local businesses whenever you can, because that's what keeps a society going. Personally, I find having a little chainsaw shop at the end of my road hugely useful, they've got me out of a tight spot more than once, and if I end up paying €22 for a bungee tool lanyard instead of €20 to keep them there... well, I reckon that's just the cost of one bottle of guava and green tea VitHit water I'll have to go without.

Exactly that. I had 2 plastic Pretzl carrytools, one each side, one broke. I'd probably stick another one on the next online order I make, if I remember. As it is, I've just stuck a snapgate upside down through the same webbing the carrytool sits on... it's doing the job just fine.

But if I saw an upgrade, in the flesh, in the shop I'm standing in... I'd buy it straight away.

Don’t get me wrong mate, I support my local saw shops as much as I can.

BUT arb gear is so specific I think the space would be better taken up with something else that would actually sell and make them money.

That’s all great mate, but how often does it happen?

Take @Dan Maynard’s advice and buy 2 of stuff.

They are guaranteed to put the 2nd one on your coffin.

A mark of a quality chainsaw shop is being able to get replacement guide bar noses on a Saturday morning. The mark of an outstanding chainsaw shop is being able to get a an 064 clutch on a Saturday morning and some wooden wedge inserts and some extra rings for them too.
