TREE IDENTIFICATION

Hello, I have access to the following trees for firewood, I have no idea what they are and I'm hoping for some help with their identification.

I'll be taking them it's just a matter of what I keep and what I give away to my friends lol.

Apologies for the poor picture,  it was icy, cold and wet so I didn't hang around too long.

I'm going to add maybe some Ash and some Sycamore too. Agree with it being a top drawer hard ident.

Regarding what to keep. It'll all be good firewood so I'd keep everything over 3" and give the rest to the friends!

If it is birch it looks like it may be too rotten to be worth while. Birch rots v quick if left

Yes it definitely needs getting off the ground, cut, split and stored under cover asap.

Those front four bits look like ash to me.

A difficult firewood/tree identification question! We have quite a few on here, that was one of the harder ones.

Ash is good, but so is almost any other firewood if it's seasoned well. Get it all cut, split and stored somewhere dry as soon as you can. Reckon you should have a good couple of years supply there, depending on your consumption rate.

Amazing, maybe when I cut it on Monday I'll add some close up pictures, bother you all again😁. Thanks Sime

You should strip the bark from Birch if not splitting it as soon as its felled . Its the bark on birch that traps the moisture in and it rots from the inside out .
