Log splitters

Thanks for adding me.

Wondered if any one knows what make my log splitter is, as there is no makers plate on it.

Need a new cone for it.

Best place to get one ?.

Hi Keith. Would you have any photos of your log splitter available? Might help people to identify it!

Approved hydraulics sell the cone tips i think, they're probably all the same splitter cone regardless of make.

Hycrak were popular in their day. I think ce marking issues ended them. Nasty little machines, if it's the type I'm thinking of.

I think you will find still available new. And spares are available.

The tips have a bastard thread. Some of the american ones which were imported had a bastard UNC thread (IIRC) which is only a slightly different thread pitch to the metric one, so the female in the base cone can b tapped out to take the metric thread. Somewhere I have a tap from when I did mine

Or you can get a plain un threaded cone and have a cross pin ( roll pin ) keeping it on .

Do you mean this pin marked red? My cone splitter has a threaded cone tip at the bit marked in light blue

Yes . Yours is a replaceable tip ( probably a Hycrack ) . I realise now that is what you were asking about , not how its fixed to the shaft . Sorry .

I wasn't asking, just observing ;-).

 

Mine was an imperial thread but I fitted the hycrack replacement by tapping out the hole as the thread pitch was very similar.
