I’m 100% positive I couldn’t notice the difference.

A full tank of fuel weighs 600g, and I can’t tell if a saw is full or empty by picking it up.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of lighter saws.

I just feel that a lot of the weight-saving is done to the detriment of the lifespan of the saw.

It’s like modern trucks, squeezing the pips out of titchy little engines, at the expense of longevity.

Good point, intelligently framed. Give Mark his password back.

I used to have the view (and so did in real life) it was better to run a bigger saw with a longer bar to give more power and less back strain. As I got older I started to like small saws again. No good in big trees though. A 500i on a 28' has been my daily for over a year now. Couldn't go smaller so appreciate the weight trimming. I'm cutting big Douglas.

Interesting to see opinions...  I like a light saw, but I'm with Mark on the fact I would rather have an extra 400g and 5 years.

It's like on my joinery gear, on the small stuff, drills impact, you can tell 50g between models, but on the mitre saw, can't tell if you left the batteries on or not.

To be fair i haven't had the scales out so I don't know if we're at 300g or 3kg.

I can do you a special deal on a 60cc mid-90s Dolmar PS-6000i though, I'd swap it for a ms400.1? You'll hardly notice the weight, honest.
