Remembrance Day

Perfectly observed minutes silence before my daughters game yesterday.

Then today we were in a really busy Tesco getting some last minute bits for tea tonight, and The Last Post came on the tannoy.

It finished at the stroke of 11, and the shop just stopped.

Nobody moved or made a sound for a full two minutes.

Choked me up a bit tbh, and made me feel very proud.

We will remember them.

Was at the Pompy game yesterday . Navy bugler played the last post . Then a minutes silence on the refs whistle . You could hear a pin drop . Then some disrespectful cnut shouted " just get on with it " Could not see who or where it came from . Hope it was one of the Preston blokes but cant be sure . There is always one . Such a shame .

Unpopular opinion.

The whole things got a bit too much, too performative.

Every year it gets more and more all encompassing.

It has now become obligatory to be/do/show something.

God forbid if you don’t join in.

Everyone has a choice but to be disrespectful is totally unnecessary .

I had a granddad that served in 2 world wars and a dad that served in one . I won't forget the sacrifice of others . If you don't want to that is fine . You don't have to wear a popy or donate or mark it in any way if its not your thing but others do so let them . It aint hurting you .

I’m not saying I don’t want to mark it or remember it or whatever.

Nor do I want to get into a game of who had relatives in the war.

What I’m saying is that it’s become a circus of ‘who’s not wearing a poppy?’ Corporate marketing nonsense and an American/North Korean style deification of the armed forces.

Case in point watch Strictly Come Dancing tonight for some toe curling remembrance shite.
