Yes, it's all going south, insect and other wildlife populations are collapsing right here in the UK. Or do you want to refute that evidence?

Climate Change and Biodiversity Collapse are two seperate issues. Connected, but seperate. It looks like you are conflating the two. The fact that we're only resposnsible for 1% of global emissions, (Directly. Indidirectly it's quite a lot higher than that when you include all the crap we get shipped over from China), doesn't mean that insect numbers aren't plummiting at a dramatic rate, right here in the UK. I think habitat and food source loss and pesticide use are largely responsible for that.

Trying to stay focused here; this is nothing to do with Ed Balls or a definition of insanity or education level.

Firstly it's just climate and has always been, secondly we are 1% of global emissions.

So let's be pragmatic, you're shouting about a non existent biodiversity collapse, fine let's do a little logical thinking.

In a country so tightly regulated we can barely fart without getting a fine, we ban pretty much all the stuff used in my yoof when things were better biodiversity wise, according to you.

Every one of your environmental improvements has in effect been a reduction, we use more fuel to have cleaner exhaust, the environmental science types tell us to do this and that in new developments and it gets worse.

Take your diesel, in the 90s 70mpg and a little smoke, now it's cleaner it's what 45 and dead at 100k?.

Insects?....

When I got my first car, a 50 mile trip would see the windscreen covered in dead insects, needing a wash. The last 10 years, can do a couple of hundred miles and be able to count dead insects on 1 hand after many trips. I am not claiming responsibility however in the last 20 years in the UK there has been a very noticeable drop in insects flying about.

I'm sure I am not alone in noticing this.

And what's changed in 10-20 years ?.

Well, more environmental bs and making the country greener.

You can if you wish argue car aerodynamics have improved if you wish, new cars are more fighter jet than flat glass on a landy.

Out of interest, what evidence do you have for the biodiversity collapse being "non existent"?

I'm a part time farmer, I've got more wildlife, birds of prey in possibly 60+ years of having a family farm.

More birds, bugs, badgers etc.

We will never solve the overconsumption problem until we ban private cars. That's where the overwhelming percent of emissions are coming from.

Going electric won't happen, the economy is simply too weak to support it.

Our overconsumption will be stopped, either by laws or by an economic depression, it's inevitable.

Is that it, the cars are flatter, even the ever popular SUVs? Cars have got larger and taller generally in the last 20 or 30 years.

No it is insect life vanishing.

Didn't say flatter, I said more aerodynamic.

Think it's drag coefficient that actually creates a protective film around the car as it moves.

Bit like a vortex pump/Tesla turbine.

Aerodynamics is one of the reasons the wheel hub thing stopped being a thing, streamlining I think they called it in the 40s.

So do you know or assume that your local experience is replicated on a national level?

Undoubtedly some things have improved such as heavy metals, to a degree particulate pollution and some of the food chain level poisoning that greatly impacted for example birds of prey and other top predators, that and legislation preventing persecution of specific species. But from a national perspective, the evidence appears to show increasing numbers of species declining significantly due to loss of prey, habitat, migration etc. Do you have evidence beyond your local experience that the scientists have it wrong?

Once again, we are not talking about the Net Zero agenda or CO2 omissions here.

The phenomenon of biodiversity collapse is highlighted by reams of research data now. To be honest though you ought to be able to see it with your own eyes, car windscreen splats being an easy place to start. I'm not sure how you can refute all that, but you do seem to be so I guess we've reached the end of the road with this. Discussion stifled.
