I have been talking with a saw doctor and he mention that it is illagal to use diesel on blades whilst cutting wood. And carried on to say some saw mills he had been to they where swimming in the stuff.Might it ever come that we as firewood producers will be banned from using mineral based chain oil because of the risk of cancer to the person buying the logs?.

My dad was a shipwright sawing up lignum vitae as ship propeller bearings he died aged 50 of a heart attack. Post Mortem reported lungs filled with powdery substance as if smoking 100 cigerettes per day. He had never smoked in his life and the powder was lignum vitae sawdust.

Our saw doctor told us that it was illegal to use diesel to a lubricant in saw milling. We now use plant oil's band saw emulsion. It's not really any good on our old Stenner 41 the search contiues for a better subsitue.
