Jacket recommendations

Evening all, im in the market to replace my current waterproof jacket. Dont want to spend a couple of hundred quid only to find out that it still has me soaking due to water ingress or sweat. My current one manages both for £40. Any recommendations or should i just buy another £40 screwfix special and stop being a big gaylord.

I'd be looking at army surplus Goretex jackets. Probably tougher than anything costing a couple of hundred quid.

Which one is your current jacket, and is it any good?

Its a Scruffs worker from screwfix. Its absolutely crap as it has no ventilation so you end up soaking in sweat instead of from the rain.

Mine was about £40, sale special in GoOutdoors. It is breathable in theory, you end up wet anyway.

Solidur 40 quid off of Chris Forestry is quite all right but not breathable. Sweaty as. 
 

 

I’ve got on good with cheap Regatta stuff out of charity shops that work really well. 
 

Lemme know what you get as I’ll be needing something as of this winter. Preferably not just a winter coat as I can layer up/down.

I grab the Rab cycling jackets from an outlet store in Derbyshire.

 

£50 down from £110

 

Well fitting, waterproof, breathable and packable. Not too expensive to cry about if you rip them.

 

I buy a couple at a time.
