Will Tabasco harm Sycamore

Question

Our Sycamore has suffered quite a bit of damage this year as a result of squirrels chewing off the bark to get to the softer and sweeter flesh.

it was suggested that we spray the branches with Tabasco diluted in water, to deter the squirrels. Will the Tabasco harm the tree?

They'll eat smaller, weaker, or slightly-injured live chickens too, if the mood takes them.

Bit like rats in that respect . If I don't check the traps first thing in the morning there is just the head left !

Squirrel fact of the day. Put sweet corn in your squirrel feeder, if it doesn't get eaten then you only have red squirrels in your area. Grey squirrels eat sweetcorn but red one's don't.

Is that tinned sweet corn or dry hard pop corn  type corn

Good question, we used to pre bait hoppers with maize/corn, as in like uncooked pop corn, to see when greys had started visiting, then the  warfarin (now banned for squirrel) coated and dyed wheat was put in the hoppers.

The thing is the squirrels never ate the whole corn kernel, the indication of their presence was that the germ had been eaten but the rest of the kernel was left.
