Has anyone tried the Oleo mac gs th 240 top handle. ?

It's that time, wondering if anyone's tried this way cheaper option, or any others,  just fancying a change after a couple of decades of stihl and huskies, or perhaps better the devil you know.?

Any advice on new top handles.

Thanks.Screenshot_20240311_211859_Facebook.thumb.jpg.2be2c7b103600166e580178b0c92168b.jpg

I would say the 2511 is a revolutionary saw.
The 201/540 is like hanging a breeze block off your belt.

With the power of the 2511 you bridge the gap between the super light saws and the (aforementioned) 35cc toppers.

A bit temperamental and needs another bar chain combo, but a brilliant saw.

As above, Echo or otherwise battery but even the battery stuff is heavy and never as good as the echo 2511. there was a review in the most recent arb mag about 20 different top handle saws. You might find something useful in there....

This,makita DCS230T- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335024DCS230T-02-500x500.jpg.157169d74bc696495491d88e1a903cdc.jpg766310?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=9uH7MjJkTVi&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ddOCF9S7QRK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Lightest top handled saw available when launched, basically the same output as the ms 150/1 but lighter, cheaper.Getting hard to find now-see link, but parts availability is fine,l&s engineers etc, etc.

Typical! After me eulogising the 2511, it broke today.

The bar nut threaded bar bit stropped the internal thread.

I seem to recall it was a common problem, was there a reliable fix?

Yep one of these will fix it for you and also it will lighten your load a bit...

I have never done one with a bar nut but if there is enough meat left in the plastic one of these warmed up and screwed in may work. You will need a new stud to screw into it.
