Question

Hi, we have a young Eucalyptus (less than 2 years old) with 2 trunks, both grow from the root, one is a lot smaller and weak and is bending a lot. Should I prune it and leave only the larger trunk?

1st ....

Cut it down to about 750mm above ground level...

2nd ....,..

Burn what you have cut down with a lot of diesel......

3rd .....

Get a digger in and remove the roots out and stump that's left.

4th ......

Burn it with a lot of diesel for hours

5th.....

Burn pallets in the hole where you dug out the stump from with a lot of diesel....

These are the 5 rules to apply when pruning "eucalypus".....😁

Pictures help but my personal experience....I planted one and diligently pruned it each year, the trunk must have been around 10" diameter and the "tree", no more than 12' when we moved home.

The tree grew to at least 40' in around 4 years, the new owners cut the tree down and I had the wood for the burner.

The long and short - prune hard each year and don't let it get out of control.
